Roukaya Builds Her Business and Self-Esteem

Roukaya Mosolmani, a 36-year-old woman from southern Lebanon, is a wife and mother of two. For years, her family relied solely on her husband's income. However, with a deep passion and talent for beauty and nail care, Roukaya saw an opportunity to turn her skills into a source of income.
She feels fortunate to participate in the “Economic Strengthening and Social Stability of Vulnerable and Displaced Communities in South Lebanon” project, funded by AECID and implemented by ADR in partnership with FPS and AIDA. Through this program, she received professional training in skin and nail care, equipping her with both technical expertise and essential business knowledge.
According to Roukaya, “This training was a new chance in life. I encourage all women to move forward and participate in such programs. Not only did I gain new skills, but I also learned about my rights as a woman.”

Throughout the vocational training, Roukaya developed crucial skills in resource management, financial planning, and customer relations. More importantly, the program boosted her self-confidence and gave her the courage to take the initiative. She successfully launched her own home-based beauty business, offering services to clients both at her residence and through a mobile beauty service, visiting customers at their convenience.
This new chapter in Roukaya’s life has provided her with financial independence. She now contributes to her household expenses and plays an active role in improving her family’s quality of life.
Looking ahead, Roukaya is determined to expand her business and further develop her expertise. She hopes to continue learning and, one day, inspire and empower more women in her community to follow their dreams and achieve financial independence.
